Silk vs muslin vs jamdani: which to buy first?

Buying your first Moslini saree? The choice usually comes down to three weaves.

Muslin is the featherweight — breathable, matte, and effortless for daytime, offices, and hot weather. It wrinkles softly and forgives beginners, which is why it is the easiest first saree.

Jamdani is muslin with motifs counted directly on the loom. Same airy base, but the woven flowers and borders make it festive enough for Eid and weddings. It needs the same gentle care as muslin: cold wash, shade dry, no wringing.

Silk is the heavyweight — lustrous, structured, and made for evenings and celebrations. It drapes with authority but asks for more care: keep it away from water spots and perfume, and air it before storing.

Our advice: start with muslin for everyday grace, add a jamdani for festive days, and choose silk when the occasion deserves shine. Whichever you pick, every weave comes from the same looms and the same hands.
